Progress!

Yesterday was the 37 week mark, and I am relieved and thrilled to be considered "full term." In the 5 years we have been thinking/hoping for a baby, I never once believed I would make it this far and be in this great of a condition. Oh ye of little faith, indeed! My ultimate goal of making it to June is about to be realized and we couldn't be happier.

As of yesterday at my appointment, I am dilated to 2, blood pressure is great and baby weighs 8 pounds. Everything looks wonderful and and checked out fine. I will say that I started feeling pretty bad yesterday - plagued with nausea, a lot of weakness and a lot of "pressure." So I was anxious to get to the doctor to see if anything was going on. Nothing major, just my body responding to hormones and starting the process. Which is all good news. And while being at a 2 is not much, as least it is some progress and makes me feel like something is happening. Officially I am probably 2 weeks away at most. My doctor wants me to not go past 39 weeks (due to medicine I am on, other reasons) which would be June 11th.

I'm still standing on faith that I can fulfill my dream of going into labor naturally. God has been so faithful during this pregnancy I have no reason to doubt this can be a reality - so all of you join us in prayer for that as well. And if he can make it sooner vs. than later to get me out of this heat, well that's just an extra gift.

Of course knowing the end is in sight makes all of this discomfort easier to take. Steve helped me run around to stores this evening and get the last of items needed to prepare the bags for the hospital. I really think I will make it through this week, but having everything ready to go makes me feel better. And considering my brain is absolute mush these days (which is so annoying, I can't remember anything), it will probably take me about a week to get everything I need actually into the bag.

So now we wait... Which is so much fun by the way, and I am loving that I get to experience that "anything could happen anytime" suspense I didn't get with Lowery. Now it's off to dig through the closet and find some shoes I can actually fit in for church tomorrow. Stay tuned!

It's Getting Close

Welcome to our new blog page that will follow our journey through the next few weeks as we get closer to delivery. Our family Texas blog needs updating and I'll do that after baby arrives. But for now, for updates on all things baby come visit this site. I'll be having doctor updates and also try to keep it up to date even through labor, etc (or should I say Steve will try and keep it up to date). We can't wait to meet her and we know all of you are ready, too! Since we're so far away from everyone, this will be the easiest way to share everything. So bookmark this and join us over the next few weeks!
